The Knights of Columbus will be accepting donations of Halloween candy to be used for the Annual Pumpkin Carving & Halloween Costume Contest scheduled for Saturday, October 21 st . Candies must be individually wrapped by the manufacturer and can be placed in containers found in each lobby of the church. Questions: Call Mike Jacobs at 614-271-6722.

Annual Pumpkin Carving & Halloween Costume Contest: Saturday, October 21 st , from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM:

Fall is in the air and soon it will be time for The Annual Pumpkin Carving & Halloween Costume Contest sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, Council #11188.  Kids, start thinking about the designs of your award winning pumpkins. Participants may gather in Don Ross Hall following the 4 PM Mass to start planning but cutting cannot start until everyone gets the go-ahead signal.

All parish children and their families are invited to attend. Hot dogs, Sloppy Joe’s, and drinks will be provided. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish or a Halloween treat. Prizes will be awarded for best pumpkins in four categories and for best costumes in six age groups. There will be a hayride and bonfire (weather permitting). And, everything is FREE! All parish children and their families are invited to attend. Prizes will be awarded for best pumpkins in four categories and for best costumes in six age groups.

Ghoul Rules: 1. Each contestant must start with an uncut, natural pumpkin or gourd available from most stores, gardens, or pumpkin patches. 2. No actual cutting of the pumpkin is allowed until the contest is started by the head judge, which will occur on 10/21. Planning and gathering of materials are permitted before the day of the contest. 3. No pumpkin "goo" can be removed before the official starting time. This gives each contestant equal opportunity to get their project done within the one hour time period. 4. The pumpkin carving contest is intended as a completion between the children. Adult assistance should be kept at a minimum, unless the safety of a child at risk, such as with the handling of sharp knives. 5. Each contestant must bring their own pumpkin(s), carving tools, and decorating materials. 6. Win or lose, each contestant must take whatever is left of their pumpkin home.  Pumpkins do NOT become the property of the KofC or COOL and we do not provide disposal of your entry.

Prizes will be awarded for the funniest, the scariest, the ugliest, and the most original submissions.

Although costumes are not mandatory, everyone is encouraged to wear one. Be yourself! Prizes will be awarded for the best costume in each of the following age groups: under 2, 2-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12.
