The Council recently learned that our very own brother Knight, Emmett Saylor, was chosen to take part in mission #129 of Honor Flight Columbus! He will be flying out and returning from Washington DC on Thursday, March 28th. He will be returning along with his other fellow veterans around 9 PM at John Glenn International Airport Terminal B. All family and friends are invited to come and welcome him back as a line is formed to clap, give handshakes, or hugs to show our sincere appreciation for the veteran’s service and give them the welcoming home they deserve.

Seton Eucharistic Revival

This is from Seton Parish, Pickerington.
We are continuing the parish year of the National Eucharistic Revival and have some exciting news to share!

But first some bad news…recent studies have shown that only about 30% of Catholics believe in the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. We know that over the recent decades many people have walked away from their faith and the largest growing population of people profess no religious beliefs. We no longer live in a Christian society and are facing a priest shortage and closure of many parishes.

The Bishops from around the United States have set out on a multi-year mission called the National Eucharistic Revival to help people understand and grow in their belief that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist.

Here at Seton Parish we are taking many steps to grow in our faith as a parish family. Our Mass attendance has been growing over the last few months! We have many young people involved in SPY events and formation at Seton Parish. Families have begun to be invited to participate in religious eduction and sacrament formation for their children. Adults and young adults are participating in discipleship formation and other faith formation programs. Our adoration chapel has people praying nearly around the clock. New Catholics are coming into the Church through our year round OCIA process! Our hospitality ministry is welcoming new parishioners to the parish each week!

The Diocese of Columbus has also seen an increased in vocations over the last couple years so we know the Holy Spirit is moving in a powerful way among us but we still have much work to do!

WHAT’S NEXT?
We have several exciting events for the Eucharistic Revival coming up this Spring and Summer at Seton Parish!

WEDNESDAY ADORATION
Beginning Wednesday April 16, we will have weekly Eucharistic Exposition in the Church from 7:00 – 9:00pm. All are welcome to come pray and spend time with our Eucharistic Lord!

In June, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage will travel through Columbus making a stop at Seton Parish on Wednesday June 26. See below for all 7 days of the events in Columbus. There are four routes of the pilgrimage starting on May 17 from locations across the country all processing to the National Eucharistic Congress in July. Seton Parish has been selected as one of the stops since our parish patroness also happens to be the namesake of the route. We will have a special relic of Mother Seton on display at the parish for this event. Guests from around the Diocese and beyond will join us at Seton Parish for this special day. Be sure to register to secure your spot. All are welcome to attend!

The faithful across the Diocese of Columbus proved that when there is a need, they can meet it. And not just any need, but one that is good and growing.
A total of $523,981 has been raised so far in the diocese’s A Good and Growing Need campaign to help offset the cost of seminary formation.
In addition to donations from online giving, a second collection was taken at Masses during the weekend of February 24-25. Seminarians visited parishes across the diocese that weekend to ask for support.
The result is the diocese’s second largest collection in recent history.
Donations continue to be accepted and can be made online at www.vocationscolumbus.org.

There are four routes traveling across the country to the National Eucharistic Congress, our Diocese is on the route named after St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born saint to be canonized by the Catholic Church. A lifelong protestant, the young mother and widow was drawn to the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. St. Elizabeth Ann opened the first free Catholic school for girls in America in 1810. Her work laid the foundation for what is now the parochial school system.

Leaving from New Haven, Connecticut, the eastern arm of the Pilgrimage will begin near the Atlantic coast, journey through our nation’s oldest diocese (the Archdiocese of Baltimore), and across the Appalachian Mountains. The Seton Route will be punctuated by many meaningful stops. Pilgrims will visit holy sites, embrace the sacraments daily, and publicly proclaim Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist as they accompany him on his way to the 10th National Eucharistic Congress. Make your plans now to meet up with this historic Pilgrimage!

A special thank you to all of the parishes and schools serving as host locations for these historic events.
