Emery Bruce Surowski
Emery Bruce Surowski, age 81, was called into his eternal rest on Monday, April 8, 2024 and was preceded in death by his mother, Anna (Petrovitz) Surowski and father, Edmund Surowski. Born on September 28, 1942 in Akron, Ohio, Emery lived a life marked by humility, a profound respect for all of creation and a heart full of gratitude.
In his gentle manner, Emery served as a beacon of light to his family and those fortunate enough to cross his path. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and a man whose actions reflected his caring and helpful spirit. Emery’s unwavering commitment to his family is a testament to his character, and his memory will be treasured by his beloved wife of almost 29 years, Rosemary Surowski; his daughters, Jean (Kirk) Warfield, Jennifer Jacobs, Heather (Mike) Golarz, Starlene (John) Cooner and Denise (Chad) Eldridge and his 12 adoring grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
His career at AT&T stands as a symbol of his dedication to service and community. After retiring in 1995, he was able to spend more time on his hobbies, which included: bowling and playing cards, lending a hand to others, volunteering at numerous charities, supporting our veteran’s, advocating through NRA, his love for automobiles, and various collections of “nostalgic treasures”. When not at home, Emery loved traveling and cruising with family and friends. His favorite travel destination was the beaches of Kauai. He also cherished the time spent playing with his grandchildren who knew him as “Pappy”.
Emery found spiritual solace and strength in worship through the Catholic Church and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence, guiding him through life’s journey with grace.
A visitation will be held 10:30 am-12:30 pm Monday, April 15, 2024 at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232, followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:00 pm at Church of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, 55225 Refugee Road, Columbus, OH 43232 celebrating a life lived with reverence and kindness. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, in Emery’s name.
As we bid farewell to Emery Surowski, we give thanks for the blessing of his presence among us and the enduring legacy of love he leaves behind. May he be received into the arms of divine peace.
