Rev. Msgr David Funk Obituary

The Rev. Msgr. David R. Funk passed away January 8, 2025, in Columbus. The son of Richard and Thelma Funk, Msgr. Funk was born February 6, 1948, in Lancaster, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Msgr. Funk was ordained to the priesthood on May 27, 1974 at St. Mary Church, Bremen, Ohio, by the Most Reverend Edward J. Herrmann, Bishop of Columbus. Msgr. Funk served as an Associate Pastor at St. Peter, Chillicothe; Corpus Christi, Columbus; and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, Columbus. He served as pastor of Holy Redeemer, Portsmouth; St. Agatha, Columbus; and St. Pius X, Reynoldsburg. His service to the Diocese of Columbus also included being a Vicar Forane, a member of the Priests Personnel Board, a Judge at the Diocesan Tribunal, and a Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus. Msgr. Funk was named a Chaplain to His Holiness, with the title of Monsignor, October 11, 1995. He retired from active ministry in 2018.

On January 28, 2025, at the Josephinum, the Office of Vocations will host the annual Andrew dinner for young men high school age and older. The event begins with Evening Prayer at 5:30pm. Bishop Earl K. Fernandes invites the faithful in the Diocese of Columbus to the annual Mass for the Respect of Life on Monday, January 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral. Following Mass, the Greater Columbus Right to Life will sponsor the annual Roe Remembrance at the Ohio Statehouse Atrium. Updated: Millions Of Monicas Prayer Ministry At St. Andrew Parish
All women are welcome to join us in prayer for our children, family members, and friends who struggle with the Catholic faith or have left the faith entirely. We meet on the second Monday of each month in the church (the main church entrance is at 4081 Reed Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220). PLEASE NOTE: the January 13 meeting will be held in the parish hall (below the church) to accommodate the church lighting renovation project). Come support the St. Matthew Class of 2025 at their Annual Legacy Spaghetti Dinner! The Mustang 8th grade class will take care of dinner so you can enjoy the evening with family and friends.
